VALENCIA BEACHES: ACCESSIBLE TO ALL!

Accessible sites on beaches of the Community of Valencia are equipped with many infrastructures and services so that persons with restricted mobility might enjoy the seaside. For that, the following equipment has been installed: appropriate signals, access ramps, special bridges to the seashore, amphibious chairs, rest areas with sun umbrellas and adapted furnitures, special cabins, toilets, and showers.

So that all might enjoy the beaches of the coastline of the Valencia region, the "conseilleria de Bienestar Social de Valencia" (Valencia social well-being council) set-up the scheme “accessible beaches”. The ambition was to free access of 80 beaches of the Spanish coast according to the accessibility sketch below. Expected result was that persons with restricted mobility might access to the seaside and bath securely.
The plan includes as well parking spaces reserved to handicapped, special ramps and bridges adapted to wheelchairs mobility, shady areas, cabins to change clothes, amphibious chairs and specialized personnel.
ALL 80 beaches are now equiped, 2 years ahead of the planned schedule.
